FOOD INTOLERANCE TESTING

Food intolerance is much more common than tested food allergies and is characterized by digestive disorders, migraines, obesity, chronic fatigue, aching joints, skin disorders and behavioral issues.  It has been stated that upwards of 70-80% of the US population has food intolerance.  Unfortunately for many, those symptoms are often identified as individual problems and treated as such, thus treating the symptoms and not the cause.  The Alcat Test is now considered the “gold standard” laboratory method for identification of non-IgE mediated reactions to foods, chemicals, and other substances.

Identifying Sensitivity:  Identifying food sensitivity is different than identifying a food allergy.  Allergies create an immediate response, signaling distress in your body.  Most often, those who suffer with food allergies carry an epinephrine pen for emergency situations.  Those who suffer with food intolerance can have a variety of mysterious symptoms that seem to arise and disappear at will.  Over time, your sensitivity can become more active, causing a widespread inflammatory response and result in chronic illness.

Warning Signs:  The warning signs of food sensitivity are varied, making it difficult to diagnose and characterize. Both physical and psychological symptoms can be present, including: celiac disease, fibromyalgia, weight gain, chronic fatigue, anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, insomnia, migraines, chronic pain, arthritis, chronic sinus issues, irritable bowel syndrome, and more.

Easy Identification:  ALCAT easily identifies hidden food sensitivities with a test kit sent to your home.  You can be tested for up to 200 different foods, 20 food additives, preservatives or dyes, 20 molds, 10 environmental chemicals, 10 antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, and 10 pharmocoactive ingredients.  Please visit ALCAT and Cell Science Systems for further information about their wide variety of testing panels.

How It Works:  After reviewing the available test kits online, choose a panel that applies to you.  Order your test kit with Sarah in person or over the phone.  Insurance may cover your testing, be sure to inquire with ALCAT customer service about your coverage.  Following a brief discussion regarding your symptoms, a test kit will be ordered and directly shipped to you.

Once received, you may take your test kit to a local blood draw location or general practitioner for order fulfillment.  Your test samples are then mailed directly to ALCAT laboratories with the provided pre-paid shipping label.  Test results are typically available within two weeks.  Once your samples have been mailed, book your appointment for a holistic consultation to meet with Sarah to discuss your individualized healthcare plan.  All consultations occur with Zoom Cloud Meeting, a free high-definition video conference software that can be downloaded here.  You will only need a high speed internet connection and webcam to participate.

Results:  Your ALCAT results include a detailed list of your food intolerance, a customized nutrition guide, and meal planning instructions.  A thorough explanation, including suggested supplementation and self-care tips, will be provided during your appointment.  Your treatment plan will help heal your symptoms over the upcoming six to nine months.  A free 30 minute consultation with ALCAT advisors will be included in your cost.
